Winter work at Findhorn's gardens. The vegetable chicory gets its top cut off and the roots get burried under earth, to grow underground and produce a beatuiful whitish cicorei veggie in midwinter. This year was an early harvest with Christmas.
For the Findhorn Craft Group I made a new webpage on the findhorn.com website. Have a look to see our events and some of our local artists.
Another creative soul, Moray pianist and composer Susanne Olbrich, gave a commission to make her website, which will soon be expanded with an online shop. Coming soon, in time for the launch of her new CD "Continuations".
In the December month we were at several Christmas Craft Fairs, amongst which:
Steiner Christmas Fair at Forres Town Hall, Saturday 5th December 10-4pm
Findhorn Christmas Fair at the Moray Art Center at Findhorn, Sunday 13th December 12-4pm
We also were at the Carolyn Myss Conference at Findhorn with a Craft and Art Fair in the fine setting of the Universal Hall in Findhorn.

In October and early November Adriana has been on an amazing journey and quest, connecting with the plains in Patagonia and the waterfalls in the north of Argentina. And of course she visited the tango town Buenos Aires. The photo above is made in La Boca, a famous colourful quarter in the capital. Read something about it in her blog.

The overwhelming brightness and colour of Midsummer has changed 180 degrees to the soft winter darkness at Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere. I can see our planet with all its opposites and duality. This month we will have a “Blue Moon” at New Year’s Eve. The „Blue Moon ” is a second full moon in a month, the 13th full moon this year. This only happens “once in a blue moon”. Midwinter is about stillness and being focussed. “Darkness precedes light and she is mother”. In many pre-Christian traditions the birth of the Sun by the (Mother) Goddess was celebrated around this time. At Findhorn we walk the Spiral during Winter Solstice: releasing our experiences of the old year and inviting the new. There will be the beautiful sounds of Gongs to experience the vibration changes.

Midwinter- , Christmas- and New Year greeting cards to celebrate the festive times at year’s end and send your seasonal greetings. These special cards are made with joy and love! A great way to share the season with friends, colleagues and family. From Findhorn, we wish you a Happy Solstice, Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.
New range of cards and notebooks with winter and seasonal celebrations themes. Some of them are available from the online shop.
Just launched in November: The Korean version of the book “The Findhorn Garden Story”, with wonderful photographs by Adriana and drawings from a talented Korean artist. (Whose name I cannot read, as my Korean is not that good). A beautiful, delicate book, which honours the Findhorn gardens in their fullest.
Nature captured in colourful images for box-sets with greeting cards, XL cards and precious little handmade ones. Above from left to right: greeting card Randolph's Leap woods, box-set Nature Sanctuary Findhorn, small box sets with greeting cards Chrysanthemum and Amaryllis.

In the European, Celtic tradition we celebrate the festival of Samhain, meaning summer’s end. It is the turning point of the Celtic Wheel of the Year, beginning the Celtic New Year at the first of November. If we want to understand the Light, we must understand darkness and honouring darkness is the main theme of Samhain or Hallow’s Eve . These days mark the gradual transition into the irrevocable onset of dark winter night. There are many fascinating myths and ancient folklore associated with this great Celtic festival. Cailleach is the wise crone Celtic Goddess who presides over this special Festival. We are beyond time, beyond the old, before the new, between the world of Spirit and Matter.
We know that at this time of ‘no time’ around Samhain the veil between our visible daily world and the invisible world is thinner than normally. This has always been known to other cultures too. Even the Christians embraced this “other reality”, celebrating All Saint’s Day on the 1st of November and All Soul’s Day the day after. These are magical days and anything may happen.
However there were no fires, pumpkins or labyrinths for me at this year’s Halloween. For I celebrated Samhain in Argentina with the Spirit of the Water and the Mountains. Read more about this in my blog.
